World of Storm and Fury: Character Profiles: A-E: Cadence
Lady Cadence Deathrage

Race: human

Email: wonderlemming@hughes.net

Gender: female

Age: 15

Birthplace: Deathrage Castle, Kzalle Province, Driesland

Appearance: With her long, thick mane of fiery ringlets, bright blue eyes, and porcelain skin, Cadence is a very beautiful young girl. Her face is a nice oval shape, with almond-shaped eyes, a delicate, slightly upturned nose, and full lips. She is about 5’4 and her slender, delicate frame is beginning to appear more womanly. Judging only by her appearance, a denizen of the world might think Yarelae (or the gods) had gone out of his/their way to form each of this young woman’s features perfectly.

Strengths: Cadence is an extremely beautiful young noblewoman who belongs to a prominent family, which means her family will probably have no trouble marrying her off. She is exceptionally skilled in communicating what she wants to others, modest without being shy, and has great taste in fashion. Being a young noblewoman, Cadence is well educated and has been formally trained in dancing, singing, and playing the harp. She is not blessed with profound talent in any of these areas, but her confidence makes her seem more talented than she really is. She is stubborn and, despite her youth, seems to exude poise and strength of spirit. Many people find her smile and laugh to be extremely charming.

Weaknesses: Cadence has been extremely spoiled by her father; therefore, she is stubborn and gets quite upset when she does not get exactly what she wants. The teenaged noblewoman has a temper to match her red hair. She has never been made to do anything resembling hard work in her life, and the only thing she ever does that is remotely exhausting physically is dancing, so she is weak and far from being in top physical shape. She is will do almost anything to become popular within a circle of peers. Also, Cadence talks quite a lot and is, for the most part, quite a silly girl.

Background: Cadence is the only child of Lord Vasilis Deathrage, descendent of the legendary Seoras Deathrage, who supposedly held an army of elves at bay with a small force until the army of the first king Drys, newly inspired by the uprising at Eilad, came to his aid. During the years after the civil war, the Deathrage family avoided extiction by chance, as the patriarch’s son happened to be in Lys at the time Maximillian was overthrown. It was later agreed that he would live in exile for the rest of his life, until Cadence’s father, who had become a wealthy merchant, bought back the old family holdings and title.

Cadence’s mother died when she was very young, leaving her to be raised the rest of her life by several different nurses, none of them lasting for more than two years. Though her father loved her dearly, he did not have the time to nurture the young girl, which he tried to make up for by buying her anything and everything she ever wanted. As she grew, Vasilis provided his daughter with the finest of everything: tutors, maids, clothing. The young noblewoman tried her best to make her father proud of her; but, upon seeing nothing she did worked, she took comfort in the fact that others her own age and younger (and even, of late, older gentlemen) admired and seemed to like her. Thus, she unconsciously set out to gain the admiration of as many people as possible. Surely then, she would be happy and her father would see how many people loved her, and perhaps it would make him love her too.
