The well-irrigated region is known for any number of crops, though ironically the land tends to be too wet for grapes and olives, two of the most common crops of the Lowlands, to do well here. Instead, berries, lettuce, cabbage, grains and rice, and citrus orchards cover this rolling river valley countryside. Livestock are also raised, everything but sheep which tend to find the climate too warm.
The lands claimed lie mostly within a twenty-mile radius of the City of Poccnr, and there have been border disputes over the centuries with Xevenox to the south. Usually these are settled through negotiation, though occasionally the Magnates or even and indepedent landowner would take a small band of armed men out to attack settlements of the other side in the disputed area, occasionally burning crops and buildings. Since these fires also start naturally, often it is unclear whether there was a dispute or merely an accidental fire. Fortunately, in this subtropical region, the climate is usually damp enough that the fires to not cause the sort of widespread devastation that occurs in forests and grasslands farther north.
For this reason, Poccnr has been relatively friendly to the arrival of the Eastern Empire, though the money being spent by the foreign army here is also a strong incentive for cooperation. Poccnr is quite willing to sell the Empire crops and goods at market prices, and is even providing wagons and riverboats with crews to help with transport.
